Home
Assistant Program
This
service offers senior citizens direct and practical
assistance with household chores and related activities.
The program assists individuals who have experienced a
loss in their ability to perform activities of daily
living. It helps them to remain in a clean, safe, and
healthy home environment.
Tasks
performed by the Home Assistant include light
housekeeping, laundry, cleaning the kitchen, running
errands, getting groceries, preparing meals, paying
bills, or transporting the client to medical and other
necessary appointments. Each case is individual and is
designed according to the needs of the senior.
There
is no fee for the program, although donations are
gratefully appreciated. Unfortunately, the need for
services is much greater than funding that is available
to pay for the services.
For
seniors returning home after leaving the hospital, rehabilitation
services, or the nursing home, the "SHORT-TERM
SENIOR SERVICES" Program is available. This
provides the same services as the Home Assistant
program, but is limited to 8 visits. If after 8 visits,
and there is still a need, the senior can choose the
"Helping Hands" Program.
The
"HELPING HANDS" Program is the same as the
Home Assistant Program except that the senior is
required to pay $15.00 per hour for services with
a 2 hour minimum. By agreeing to pay a client of the
Helping hands Program, the senior is not placed
on the waiting list and often can begin receiving
services within a week.
To
register for the program, please call Gina at 426-0060.
