TeleCare Program

The Telecare Program was created to visit with and check on the safety of the elderly. Many seniors live alone, and have no family in the area that can check on them daily. The TeleCare Program is a free, person-to-person daily reassurance call for the senior.

Volunteers are assigned a senior to call at a designated time each day. If there is no answer within an hour, the volunteer knows to follow an emergency procedure which includes contacting the seniors' designated emergency contact person. If it is necessary, emergency medical help can be sent to the senior.

The TeleCare Program is a wonderful way to volunteer from your own home and to help a senior to feel a little more secure about living alone. Often, the only phone call a senior may receive each day is a "sales" call. Knowing that a friendly and familiar voice will call at a designated time each day helps alleviate fears and anxieties.
